No
one saw Him die that day on Calvary. For three long hours
darkness covered the earth. God pulled the shades and would
not look upon His Son, for our sins were upon Him. The
innocent for the guilty! With blood streaming down, Jesus
cried with a loud voice, "It is finished:" and He
bowed His head, and died. What love! What a Savior!

Celebrating
the birth of Jesus Christ is what Christmas is all about. May
this Christmas be your best ever!
I'm
very excited about the ministry in 2010! In addition to the
church revivals, I am booking some Friday and/or Saturday
nights. Ministering with me in some of the revivals and
crusades will be The Stanleys, New Day Spirituals, and my
daughter JoAnna Sheffield. What a blessing and privilege it is
to serve the Lord. Please, pray for a great harvest of souls.

Received
an email from a friend today asking why I don't sing as much
in the revival meetings as I have in the past. I love singing
gospel music, but after the first or second night my singing
voice is all but gone. Years of hard preaching, I guess. By
His grace, I plan to sing more in 2010.

Here's
a little poem I wrote.
The
Dirty Sandals
Two dirty sandals;
whose could these be?
They look so old and worn,
I wonder, will they fit me?
In haste I tried them on;
just right I cried!
But who could have left them
on this ugly hill side?
I've needed them so long,
my feet are sore and bruised.
Left beneath this old cross,
I wonder, whose?
Oh Lord, I thank you,
my prayers you have heard
You are truly a mighty God,
and faithful to your word!

We
need Revival in the land! However, this will not happen until
God's people humble themselves and pray, seek God's face, and
turn from their wicked ways, (2 Chronicles 7:14). It must
start with the pulpit. Pastors have abandoned the message of
repentance for soothing sermons which are void of Holy Spirit
conviction. People attend church services and hear everything
in the world but the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The focus is on
the latest religious fad and how to increase in numbers and
riches, instead of the Cross of Christ. The modern church is
as "broken cisterns, that can hold no water,"
(Jeremiah 2:13). The thirsty come to the well and find no
water and return with their vessels empty. How sad! We must
have Revival. Lord, let it begin with me.

What
an exciting Summer this has been for both our church and the
Revival ministry! We have witnessed the Salvation of precious
souls and lives dramatically changed by the power of God. In a
recent meeting a young married couple was Saved out of a life
of drug addiction. There was not a dry eye in the house. To
God be the glory and praise! The blood of Jesus breaks the
chains of Sin and sets sinners free. My Revival schedule for
the year is coming to a close. The only engagements I'm taking
the remainder of 2009 are Friday and/or Saturday evenings.
These are some of the best meetings I have in churches. My
2010 calendar is filling up fast. If you are thinking about
having me in your church, please call early. If the Lord is in
it, I would love to come.
Keep
your eyes upon the Eastern Sky. He's coming back soon!

Seeds
We
are sowing seeds of some sort in the hearts of our children
and grandchildren. I thank God for the good seeds planted in
my heart many years ago. My grandmother, Lela Wilburn Denby,
made me attend the singing schools at our church when I was
growing up. I hated those things! And, every morning at 5:30 I
had to listen to the Mull Singing Convention and the Chuck
Wagon Gang over the radio. Back then I had rather listen to
Hank Williams instead. Now I am preaching the Gospel and have
a great love for the Lord and Gospel Music. I think Granny
would be proud.
Plant
some good seeds. One day they will sprout.

The
Revival at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Texas
was wonderful. The Holy Spirit moved mightily in each service!
A seventy two year old man gave his heart to Jesus Christ on
Tuesday night. On Friday night The Stanleys ministered with me
and it was a little bit of heaven on earth. What a service!
The
Lord is doing a mighty work in Highway Baptist Church, where I
pastor. Souls are coming to Christ for Salvation and lives are
being changed by the power of God. In June we baptized twelve
young people in one service and have baptized several more
converts in recent services. Many others are coming for
rededication and church membership. His name be praised!
Tomorrow, a group from our church will be leaving for New
Mexico. We will be ministering and working with the Navajo
Indians and the Two Grey Hills Baptist Mission. I will be
preaching Sunday through Tuesday night. Brother Jason Nolde,
our youth director, will hold a special youth service on
Tuesday night. Please pray for the salvation of souls.
